To ensure that our cats have the best quality of life and prevent serious diseases in the future, we must take care of them even in small things.
That’s why we give you 8 tips to extend the life of your cats:
1. Make sure they drink water:
Either by occasionally changing their water or by getting a water fountain since cats like running water. Another option is to have several bowls of water placed in different parts of the house for their convenience.
2. Separate the food dish from their water source:
It will make them feel more comfortable since instinctively they like to avoid contaminating the water with food.      Â
3. Create a safe space for your cat:
Especially if you notice that your cat is going through a stressful time, whether because of other cats, children, or loud noises. You can give them a place in your home that has little activity and fill it with a comfortable bed and their favorite toys. Just make sure not to disturb them when they’re there.
4. Medical check-ups:
Make sure to take them to regular vet check-ups to detect diseases and get preventive care, in addition to keeping their vaccinations up to date.
5. Spay or neuter them:
This will significantly extend their life as it minimizes stress from mating instincts.
6. Keep track of your weight:
To avoid obesity, as it can lead to health problems such as arthritis and diabetes.
7. Make sure to have a grooming routine:
This doesn’t mean a daily bath, but a brushing routine for their coat. Whether you have a long-haired or short-haired cat, this prevents the formation of hairballs and shedding.
8. Reduce your stress as much as possible:
Start by identifying what noises, objects, or situations cause them stress and based on that, modify it, or if it’s something beyond your control, try to patiently adapt your cat.
Follow these steps, and your cat’s life will be full, keeping them by your side for a long time
